The Margate Townhouse

Herringbone Margate Project

We recently completed this calming and beautiful space for a lovely couple and their very cute sausage dog in Margate. Ella was the Designer for this project and worked within the client’s brief to create the perfect design the first try! The clients were very clear they wanted a minimalist style space to host their friends and have views of their garden. When the clients first viewed the house, they fell in love with the garden. They couldn’t believe how lucky they were to have such a private sunny spot. However the house was still in it's original Victorian layout with lots of small rooms and it was pretty dark. They wanted to really bring in as much light and nature into the space as possible, so what started as a plan to knock down one wall, quickly escalated to a whole house renovation!

“We loved the care and attention to detail. We felt like the team really took time to listen to us. It was amazing to be supported by such an experienced and passionate team as we went through the design process. It felt like nothing was too much trouble and no question went unanswered!”

The clients chose a very slick style door for this minimalist look, that works so well here. These clean lines are a relatively new style for Herringbone, which were also used on the Whitstable Double Annexe and Shoreditch Kitchen

“I love how clean and simple the lines are- the space is really all about the light and the view of the garden. We spend most of our time in the kitchen, before this definitely wasn't the case- it's just so great to have a well designed social space where we can have dinner with friends and relax. We've also discovered a new passion for cooking!”

“There were so many decisions to make! Who knew there were so many options for light switches? We had also never done anything like this before, so having an understanding of materials, opportunities and limitations was a bit of a learning curve. However that was also part of the joy of it all- we met so many knowledgeable and passionate people through the process who guided us through.”

This project is beautiful and relaxing space and we wish the clients a lifetime of happiness in the ir new home.
