The Design

When our clients moved into this beautiful property that had been loved and lived in within their family since the Second World War, they both knew it needed a layout that matched the way their young family lives. The house was an unusual combination of two Tudor properties joined together, which meant the flow was disjointed and, at one point, the kitchen had nine separate doors leading off it. By opening up three rooms into one, we created a space that finally felt coherent, calm and connected.

“We were drawn to the quality and craftsmanship from the moment we saw the brochure. The cabinetry felt considered and beautifully made, and the team were warm, patient and genuinely interested in helping us create the right space.”

Because the property is so unique, deciding where the kitchen should sit within the footprint of the house was a significant challenge. Once they had resolved that, the most difficult part was choosing colours, “everything we saw was beautiful, and the options were genuinely hard to narrow down.”

The island has become the heart of their home. “The generous overhang allows us to sit comfortably with four full-sized chairs, and having not grown up with an island, it still feels like a real luxury. We use it constantly. We also love the detailing, the handles, the finishes, and the ease of everyday life with a boiling-water tap. In truth, it’s the whole space that we’ve fallen in love with.”

The new kitchen has completely changed how they use their space. “The kitchen has transformed the way our home functions day to day. We cook three meals a day, and now the space supports that rhythm effortlessly. It has become somewhere we spend time together, not just somewhere we prepare food.”

“The build quality is exceptional. With two children under five and a home that’s used constantly, we needed something robust and long-lasting. The kitchen has more than lived up to that. it feels solid, dependable and crafted with care.”

The Details: Colours, Handles & Bespoke Details

The client chose Friday Night Green from Herringbone Paints which looks so classic in this space. The worktop is Caeserstone Circa, silk finish and the appliances are from Miele. The handles are from Corston.
