Bespoke Design: Textured Glass Cabinets

Textured glass cabinets or bespoke furniture are beautiful and functional. When we talk about textured glass we are talking about reeded glass, textured glass and all kinds of vertical textures, which are one of the most impactful and beautiful design element for 2024.

It’s a kitchen trend that has been around for many years but one that has really come into its own over the past year. Not only does it make your cabinets, dressers or bars stand out, but it also adds texture to the kitchen and cabinets, whilst hiding the potential mess inside the cupboards.

Bespoke Design: Dramatic Kitchen Worktops

Think dark, moody, red veined worktops adding intrigue and giving character to a space that can also make the worktop a piece of art. The veins can be different colours, particularly deep reds, browns and even gold are stunning elements to a kitchen worktop and adds a lovely bit of extra detail in the design.

Splashing out on a gorgeous piece of marble to achieve this offers a whole new level of luxury. Combine this with softer and lighter tones of cabinets and you’re on to a winner.  

Design Tips For Pantries And Larders

Larders and pantries are beautiful and convenient options when it comes to bespoke storage, functionality and kitchen luxury. Our bespoke designs are ensured to fit in perfectly with the space available, even if we have to flip the original space on its head – we love working with our clients to achieve the best possible outcome and create their dream kitchen. 

Here we want to give design tips for creating the best pantry or larder depending on your needs, family situation and personal style.  

Consider the right doors: Larders and pantries have many options when it comes to the doors, if you decide to have doors. A great solution would be to have bifold doors or pocket doors so when the unit is in use and the family are in and out during the time of use the doors are half the size and can sit nicely over the worktop in front. However, if you’d like your spice racks to hang go for the typical cabinet option. These can be solid wood or glass depending on the design 

Bespoke internals: think shelves, drawers, cold shelves and stone splash back, it can be whatever you want and need it to be. A functional and beautiful internal appearance can make all the difference to the way you use your larder or pantry, as well as how it makes you feel when you open the doors to the first shelf works great also 

Usability: Both are a great option to hide everything away, a full-on walk-in pantry can sometimes be harder to incorporate than a larder, but it does give the option to go wider than a larder due to the makeup of the design and usability 

Personal solutions: both options allow for personalisation. Why not incorporate a ladder if you need to reach higher up or bespoke wine storage for display or hidden away. It’s a personal choice of what the design looks like however, as long as it fits your personal needs you’re winning 

Sockets are a must: naturally both pantries and larders are the best place to house a toaster or a coffee machine and integrate the microwaves so that all small appliances are together. Sockets in the rear would be very common and useful as it all appliances can be used then and there 

Bespoke Home Storage Tips And Ideas

At Herringbone we are experts on making sure our kitchens and furniture offer the ultimate storage for our clients designing everything to be bespoke. It is something that really sparks joy! We’re talking dovetail drawers, banquette seating, cutlery inserts, knife blocks, chopping board vertical storage, entertainment units, bars, wardrobes etc. - it's what makes all the difference. 

Here are a few tips and ideas about what to consider when you are thinking about your storage options. 

The right storage: you can have many cupboards and storage in a space however, if it doesn't fit your pots and pans, your chopping boards or the height of the sauces and bottles then it's not functional. Make sure when you design your space that you consider how you live, what gadgets you have and what you really want from your storage space. 

Organised shelving: there is nothing worse than if you have to move everything around before you can get to the one thing you need. Make sure the spacing, size and practicality is considered when you create the storage. Do you need vertical instead of horizontal division shelving? Do you have huge pots that need extra height? Do you have a corner unit that makes it hard to reach inside? etc. it's important to have an overview of how you live/what you have to ensure you can fit it all in, neatly. 

Out of sight out of mind: Closing the cupboard with ease is important. If you have the right storage that is the right size then you don't have to look at the mess or try and fit anything into a space where it doesn't fit in. The ironing board is also a tricky one but if you consider it from the beginning then it will always have a space.
