We recently announced the introduction of our very own paint colour range – Herringbone Paints. - featuring a total of 18 timeless colour choices, exclusively available to our clients. Each name has therefore been carefully chosen and means something special to them, a few examples include:
Planted Tree Green: A colour to represent the tree that is planted for every kitchen we make.
Parade Pink: To show our love for Pride Canterbruy and continued sponsorship.
Cliff White: Just up the road from the studio are the world famous White Cliffs of Dover.
Drum Belt Red: Inspired by the drum belts that sand the kitchens before paint.
Timeless Colour Combinations
When it comes to picking the colour for your kitchen, utility, pantry or furniture it can be difficult to picture what it will look like in real life. The designers at Herringbone are always ready to explain the best colour combinations that will suit your personality.
Here are a few suggestions of which colours go perfectly together in a timeless manner.
Pale pink and yellow: this is one of our favourite colour combinations, not only is it fresh and vibrant but it also puts a smile on your face. The colour combination is gentle and bright whilst also trendy and unique
Dark purples and blue pastels: the dark with the light is a lovely combination that brings a pop of colour that is evened out by the lighter calming pastels. It adds interest whilst keeping the space light and airy
Mix of pastel greens: earthy pastel tones are calming and warm. Light and pastel greens are known to be a very soothing, tranquil colour combination and it is a great one to use in a space with back garden windows and French doors, bringing the outside in.
Dark green with white: whether this is your worktop or your island dark green and an off white always go well together. A contrast colour adds interest and create a brighter space, it’s all about getting the perfect match.

Herringbone Introduces New Paint Range - Herringbone Paints
Herringbone is incredibly excited to introduce our very own paint colour range – Herringbone Paints. The range is exclusively available to Herringbone customers and features a total of 18 timeless colour choices.
This is an unusual step for a furniture company but in true Herringbone style we continue to be a progressive family run business who moves with the times and listens to what our clients want.
The Herringbone Paints range
The range features a total of 18 timeless paint colours and being a small family run business, it was important to Herringbone to make sure the colours referred back to our roots and had meaning. Each name has therefore been carefully chosen and means something special to us, a few examples include:
Planted Tree Green: A colour to represent the tree that is planted for every kitchen we make
Parade Pink: To show our love for Pride Canterbury and continued sponsorship of the event

Friday Night Green: inspired by a beer bottle we are partial too after work on a Friday, where we sometimes visit the local pub near the workshop.
The range will continue to be expanded on and will always be updated to fit the latest influences. Customer can still pick from outside this range, however it is often so difficult to choose from endless options, that a more refined range should help clients in choosing colours we know work well and stand the test of time. The range is extensive and designers will be able to recommend the best colour combinations for the choice of kitchen design.

As part of our ethos Herringbone has made a conscious decision from the beginning to only use water-based low VOC paint, which the new range continues to be. This again is very rare in this industry and while it was not the easy option, it stays true to the ethos. To read more about Herringbone’s commitment to sustainability see here.
For each bespoke kitchen made we dedicate a tree to the National Forest, a regeneration project across 200 square miles in the Midlands. These are all small, but important, things Herringbone does to reduce our impact on the environment.

Bespoke Bedroom and Bathroom Furniture Inspiration
At Herringbone we do much more than kitchens and we are frequently taking on full projects for clients who want a bespoke and streamlined feel throughout their home. As part of your kitchen project we now often also design and make our clients’ bedroom and bathroom storage and furniture, which our skilled craftsmen create in our workshop in Canterbury.
Bespoke Bedroom Furniture
These bespoke wooden pieces of furniture add a lovely mid-century modern feel. The flat, brass hardware and quartz tops add a touch of texture and become key everyday pieces of furniture for the clients to use.
Bespoke Kids Bunk Beds, Wardrobes and Storage
A kid’s dream! Herringbone designs and makes bespoke set of bunk beds perfetly matching the personality of the kiddo staying in it. We also know how important toy and clothing storage is when it comes to children’s bedrooms and we have so much fun designing and making these.
Bespoke Bathroom Storage
We are big fans of creating bespoke storage furniture for the bathroom. Anything from a countertop unit for daily toiletries, units below the worktop for refills and spares to additional cabinetry with a flat door, which sits behind the toilet.

How To Create A Modern Country Kitchen
We love a country kitchen design at Herringbone, partly because of all the uneven nooks and crannies our bespoke kitchens are made to fit so perfectly into but also because new trends are constantly emerging from this old favourite.
Here are a few tips on how to bring your country kitchen into a modern era, have fun with the design and add a touch of your personality.
Standard practice for a country kitchen would include a range/aga. The new contemporary version of this would be electric, and the Everhot adds a great solution to this OR replace that system with built in ovens and induction hobs.
Belfast sink would be standard but could be replaced with Undermount for a cleaner look. Many clients love to also go for a "prep sink" too.
Move away from timber worktops, look at the natural stones or Quartz for simple maintenance. Keep it light, maybe switch up the stone on the island to bring in more texture and colour.
Move away from the sage/pastel greens, look at soft colours with hints of the pink palette and mix with exposed timber doors. Either stained or bleached.
Add softness through shelving, this is where to introduce timber in our opinion. It gives warm notes to the kitchen and a lovely bit of character too.
For storage try to include a breakfast bar/unit rather than larders only, it adds another layer of coolness and they look incredible.
Most importantly don’t be afriad of adding your own unique stamp on your space. We love designing kitchens that fit into your lifestyle, family situation and needs, so have fun with it and make it a space you will love.
