Richmond Upon Thames Kitchen & Banquette
The Design
We recently completed this gorgeous project for a lovely family in Richmond Upon Thames in London. The design of this open plan kitchen, dining and living space includes a long run of tall cabinetry against the back wall, a kitchen island running parallel, as well as an L-shaped banquette seating area across the room.
The combination of tall and wall units along the back wall, keeping the height close to the ceiling add a certain grandness to the space; this is amplified by the beautiful reeded glass cabinetry fronts and tongue & groove panelling on the extractor hood.
The Details: Colours, Handles, Worktops Etc
For their colour palette, our lovely clients chose a black with blue undertones; this was a custom colour match to Mylands’ ‘Blackout’. The burnished brass hardware and Quooker tap add warmth and texture to the otherwise cool toned space. A classic combination of cups, bun knobs and pull handles was chosen to add dimension, all from Armac Martin’s ‘Bakes’ range in a burnished brass finish.
A double ‘pie crust’ Belfast sink sits on the kitchen island looking out into the living-dining space, making the room even more social, allowing you to make a cup of tea for your guest without turning your back on them.
The double larder unit features two oak shelves and deep drawers, as well as a quartz cold shelf matching the rest of the kitchens’ countertops and splashback. For their worktop, our clients chose a beautiful quartz stone in the colour ‘Verona’; this features a gentle mottled effect similar to a marble. The inside of the two wall units was painted in the same black colour as the rest of the kitchen, creating a lovely harmony throughout the run.
The Herringbone Workshop
All of our kitchens, utilities and wardrobes are made in our Canterbury workshop, completely bespoke to you and your space. One of the most exciting parts of this process, is seeing your tailor made, unique units come to life.

The Banquette Seating
We love designing cabinetry that is more than your kitchen! This L-shaped run of banquette seating is not only beautiful but also adds seating and storage with the lift-open seats. The base and back were matched to the colour of the kitchen while the seats and cornice on top were kept in the oak finish matching the inside of the family’s larder. A lovely bit of tongue and groove adds some dimension and interest while echoing the extractor hood in the kitchen.
We thoroughly enjoyed designing, making and installing this project for a lovely family and we wish them many happy years of memories in their new space.
