Showroom Feature: The Larder!

This week, we wanted to take a quick look at a fantastic unit to feature in your kitchen, which can help utilise space more effectively, whilst looking stylish and traditional. The larder, as you may have guessed from the title, is quickly becoming one of the most popular additions to new kitchens. 

The larder was commonplace before the common availability of the refridgerator, as it offered a cool, dry place to store foodstuffs. Whilst the larder has certainly declined in popularity, it is making a resurgance, due to its ease of access, and its superior storage. The larder can be used in a multitude of ways to fit into your kitchen design, and offers a great unit to fit into tight spaces, being available in a range of widths and measurements, in order to fit whatever space you have.

As a basic, two basic choices you have feature a pull out larder, or a door larder with pull out drawers. Both offer a large amount of storage for such a stylish unit, and help to keep the clutter out of the kitchen cupboards. Otherwise, you may also like to feature a larder-fridge combo, which combines both the unit and appliance into an incredible design space.

Colours, Styles and Finishes

One big thing a lot of customers have in their minds when they first come into the showroom is colour. The colour, style and finish of a kitchen is often the first decision made, which makes sense due to the fact that it is often the most striking feature of a kitchen. However, a lot of people disregard the fact that the colour and finish of your units can be the last decision, as most units come in a wide range of colours and styles. Today, we want to make sure that by considering the alternatives, you get a good idea of what the important factors are to consider when choosing everything colourful.

Firstly, an important point to make is that you do not have to make a choice on colour straight away. Advice we've often given to customers is that a more important decision to make would be your unit styles and worktop choices. Whilst colour and style can be striking, the actual design of a unit is fixed, whereas the colour and style upon the unit itself can be changed right up until the order is made. Making sure you're happy with the unit design and general aesthetic of the kitchen is a far more important choice. 

Secondly, the choice boils down to much more than blue or white, for example. All of our units have a different range of colours, styles and finishes that can be applied to it; the Malmo design, for example, comes in unpainted wood, painted, and glossed finishes, all of which give a different aesthetic. The glossly look provides a smooth, modern look, whilst the unpainted wood gives a more traditional spin to the overall kitchen. This is one example of why starting the process with a definite idea of colour can be detrimental - if you base your kitchen around the colour, you perhaps miss out the opportunity to explore new colours and styles you wouldn't have expected. A big benefit of the bespoke style is that it offers the ability to see how different colours and styles look through our 3D software, which can help you visualise your design more easily.

A last thing to consider is the look of your worktop with your unit choices. Do you prefer dark unit colours, and a lighter quartz, perhaps? Or would a wood finish, along with a darker granite be more your speed? By keeping your mind open, you can help grow your design to something that better fits your taste - after all, there's so much to consider, you wouldn't want to miss out on anything!

700 Sweets for Halloween!

This weekend past, we took part in the King's Mile's annual Trick-or-Treating extravaganza, in which kids from all over the city were invited to trick-or-treat their favourite street! As always, this year was bigger and better, and you can tell that from the number of sweets we gave out! With small Haribo packets on the menu, over 700 packs were given out by us on Saturday, and even better is the time lapse we have of the whole thing!
