 The Waltham Forest Project

White kitchen in Waltham Forest designed by Herringbone

“We had a great experience from start to finish. David gave us plenty of time during the first meeting and really seemed to understand our needs. His first designs were almost spot on which was very impressive, only a few very minor tweaks were made. Communication was good throughout and Tom the fitter was great, very skilled with really strong attention to detail.”

The Design

This bright open plan kitchen is our Westminster Style featuring a main run of lower cabinets on one wall with a large kitchen island in the middle. On the other side is a bespoke storage unit, which hides away the fridge and freezer as well as stores the family’s glasses and plates. The kitchen cabinets are painted in Herringbone Paints’ Cliff White whilst the worktop is CRL Calacatta Dorado on the main run and on the island.

“We wanted a bespoke kitchen as we had a pretty clear idea about what we wanted and knew we were not going to get it off-the-shelf. We wanted to ensure that it was a calm, beautiful and practical space with a timeless design and lots of natural materials. We were very pleased to take some guidance from David as well, but he did a great job of incorporating our design ambitions with overall usability of the space. We were confident that Herringbone would deliver a high-quality kitchen and the level of craftmanship and attention to detail really shows.”

The Fridge Freezer Dresser

This bleached oak tower unit is completely bespoke and unique to the family’s needs. it features the fridge on one side and the freezer on the other. In addition, behind the reeded glass you find the family’s glasses and plate storage. The drawers hold a bespoke spice storage unit and deep storage options. The brass edge handles flow from here to the rest of the kitchen uniting the space in a lovely way.

“It’s hard to choose a favourite part but the freestanding fridge/freezer unit works really well and we like the fact that Herringbone hadn’t done one like it before! It’s a beautiful feature piece but also highly practical. We also love the pantry and how it is so easy to access the items we need but it also helps keep the space tidy.“

The Walk-in Pantry

The walk-in pantry sits just off the main kitchen run and the mixing of natural and bespoke materials continues through to here. The Cliff White colours mixed with the light wood create a sense of warmth whilst keeping the space bright.

“The mixture of light and dark woods also works really well, and the quality of the materials is very clear. David incorporated the brass features we wanted into the design seamlessly and we love the texture the materials bring to the kitchen."

The family also worked with local architects Smith & Newton to bring their house project to life. We wish the client a lifetime of happiness in their beautiful home.
