The Upminster Project

 The Upminster Project

“I knew even before we started the extension, that I wanted Herringbone to design our kitchen. My friend told me about them, and I started following them on Instagram and there was never any other company that came close. I visited the showroom, and it was one of the easiest decisions I made for the house renovation. Luke was fantastic, and designed everything we needed into the kitchen with ease. We also had help from Martyna, Herringbone’s interior designer, who helped us choose colours for the walls, stools, lights etc. She was fantastic!

The Design

We recently designer this modern yet classic kitchen for a lovely family near Upminster. The kitchen was being relocated with a chimney breast being taken out, which meant that we had free rein on the design front. The client is a true believer in the kitchen being the heart of their home however, before the renovation they didn’t have a central place for people to meet around, chat and drink while cooking was ongoing.

“Having this open space and an island is fantastic and really changes the way we live in our home. The kitchen is beautiful, so well-crafted and a joy to use and cook in.”

The client also worked with Salt Haven Interiors and architect Gary Cumberland of Form Architecture to make their project come to life.

The Details: Colours, Hardware, Worktops Etc

The kitchen is our Westminster Style and offers a modern twist with the kitchen island skirting and the contemporary frames to the floor on the main part of the kitchen. The room coving and the proportions between the kitchen cornice with the grey walls work well. The space is full of storage with the floor to ceiling units housing ovens side by side and two good sized pantry larders.

The main kitchen is painted in Studio Grey from the Herringbone Paints range whilst the kitchen island is painted in a Studio Green. The handles are burnished brass, which look beautiful against the cabinet colours.

“Colour was a challenge! It’s quite dark in that area of the kitchen so we knew we needed a light main colour. The island however we wanted a colour. This is where Martyna was again fantastic, helping us choose colours.”

“Once designed, Joe and the team were amazing with their installation. So professional, hard working and a pleasure to work with. It was also a pleasure to meet Ope who photographed our project.”
